Please Register below:  If full, please add your name to the wait list.
This class is designed to help those who wish to paint portraits (or draw with graphite or charcoal). We will take a deep dive into observing facial features necessary to render values to create an accurate 3D portrait in any medium. Note: Using charcoal or graphite has direct links to painting in watercolor.
In addition to free-hand drawing, we will cover several methods to get your reference photo onto your paper or canvas. All drawing supplies will be provided the first two nights. Feel free to bring your supplies if you wish.
Additional information: What this class is and is not!
This IS a fundamentals class open to all skill levels. The importance of observing and drawing the shape of the eyes, nose, lips, ear, jaw, hair, etc. will be emphasized as students begin the skill of drawing the entire face. There is expectation students will practice lessons at home. Lessons build on one another.

This 15 hr. class is NOT about drawing perfect “portraits”. It is about the first steps of observing and accurately drawing facial details and shading them accurately. We will address many methods such as grid, projectors, tracing, tablet apps, measuring, etc. for you to make accurate portrait drawings on your paper for painting.  All skills take time!

To prepare for the nights on shading, I will email you reference photos for you to draw on your paper using one of the methods covered in class. To do the exercises on shading, having an accurate drawing will save you time and frustration so you can focus on the values and details of the face’s features.

Cost is $100. Class size will be 12 students. (min of 6)
You must fill out the form below to register for this class.
You can pay in advance with Check, PayPal, or Venmo.

Thanks,
Bill Wise

Note: The classroom is on the second floor so there are steps to climb.
We will draw with charcoal so dress accordingly.
